Big day: Jane Priest with staff and children at Little People at The Limes

Staff are celebrating a hectic first year at a children’s nursery.

Jane Priest and Vicky Shaw opened Little People at The Limes, a refurbished and renovated children’s nursery and pre-school with a staff of two and 10 children 12 months ago, and now they have a staff of 13 and 60 children on the roll.

The nursery has gone from strength to strength, achieving a ‘good’ outcome from Ofsted – the regulatory body for schools and nurseries - creation of extra rooms to cater for demand and Vicky’s achievement of Early Years Professional Status on top of her qualified teacher status.

The little people have enjoyed regular trips to local cafes, parks and the library and raised hundreds of pounds for various charities through sponsored ‘toddles’, wearing red for Children in Need, pyjama week for thre Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and hosting a Bloomin Great Tea Party in aid of Marie Curie Nurses.

In addition, staff and parents took part in the Race for Life on Moor Park.

Celebrations start next week with a home-made cake sale and ‘wear something green day’ on Monday, fun and games Tuesday, party day on Wednesday, chippy lunch on Thursday, kindly supplied by Tony’s Top Chippy ,and finish with a bring a guest to lunch day on Friday.

Future plans include the creation of a new baby unit on the first floor and a designated Learning and Development Room for pre-schoolers.
