Fundraising events for crisis hit Space Centre
Backing: Brian Nelson, of Red Rose Blinds, with Ross McWilliam from the Save our Space Centre committee
A businessman is throwing his weight behind the campaign to save Preston’s Space Centre by hosting a variety of events in aid of the cause.
Brian Nelson, of Grimsargh-based Red Rose Blinds, Curtains and Interiors, has decided to dedicate all his fundraising activities for 2013 to the centre.
In previous years Brian has held events to raise money for different local charities, but after hearing the plight of the Space Centre, in Pedders Lane, Ashton, decided that this year he wanted to help its cause.
A funding shortfall has threatened the future of the centre, which provides care and respite for people with disabilities.
Brian said: “I read the about what has happened.I spoke to all our staff and we have decided to dedicate all our fundraising in 2013 to SOS appeal.”
Brian is organising the event with the help of Ross McWilliam, of Save our Space.
The pair have secured the services of a band called Doolittle, made up of a group of Preston doctors and registrars.
Brian will kick off the fundraising with a dinner at Longridge Golf Club on March 30, with all proceeds going to the centre.
Tickets are £25 each and available from Longridge Golf Club or Red Rose Blinds.
